However, for the price of the cowl, it should at least be wearable! As for the gun, why not let it be detachable from the base. I'm sure it's a way to deter people from replicating and reselling them for a fraction of the cost... but for honest collectors like myself, I'd prefer replicas to be as functional as possible.
