Watchmen's Sophomore Weekend

With the level of detail and passion Zack Snyder put into making Watchmen, it didn't have quite the box office punch as fans were expecting. With a 70% dip in box office dollars its sophomore weekend, Watchmen fell to second place, beaten by The Race To Witch Mountain. What happened? This movie was supposed to be the best thing since sliced bread. Personally, I enjoyed the film!

Just as Hollywood was starting to get things right with comic book movies, I think this is going to send a bad message to Hollywood. Zack Snyder should be praised for keeping his vision of the Watchmen faithful to the graphic novel, and fans of the graphoc novel for that matter. I'm sure he had to fight and go through hoops to keep in the film, what studio executives told him to leave out for the sake of box office dollars.

In the end, I just don't want future graphic novel adaptations to mutate into Joel Shumacher versions of Batman and Robin for the sake of breaking box office records and selling toys.

I'm sure the Watchmen DVD/BR is going to make a killing!
