X-Men First Class... this is starting to sound misleading!

Remember when they announced the next title for the X-Men movie franchise? "X-Men: First Class" to be direct by Matthew Vaughn? I was under the impression they were going to re-focus the cast to only have the original founding members of Xavier's X-Men. You know, give Wolverine less screen time! That would be: Cyclops, Jean Grey, Iceman, Beast and Angel. Not a tough formula to follow right? Wrong! Why are they introducing characters prematurely like Emma Frost, Banshee and Havoc? Apparently there is a casting call for these characters and they already have strong contenders. If you ask me, they are making the same mistake X-Men 3: Last Stand and Wolverine Origins made, they are saturating the movie with too many characters. It dilutes the story and misleads the the focus of the film.

X-Futurama

Thought this was a pretty cool picture of the Futurama show getting the X-Men treatment. I was never a big fan of the show, falling off the first season halfway through, but I'll catch random episodes when they're on and I have no strength to reach for my remote control.

James McAvoy to be cast as Charles Xavier in X-Men film reboot

The X-Men reboot, X-Men: First Class (to be directed by Matthew Vaughn), has cast James McAvoy to play a young Charles Xavier. McAvoy's film credentials include Wanted, The Last King of Scotland and The Chronicles or Narnia. If you can imagine Patrick Stewart as a young man, it's not hard to picture James McAvoy. McAvoy is a solid actor, and I think this is setting the stage well for the X-Men reboot. Combine that with the semi-faithful adaptation of Matthew Vaugn's Kick-Ass, I think X-Men fans won't be disappointed. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Wolverine won't be in this film and that Cyclops will actually have a pair of balls!
