UD Replicas: Iron Man Mark V - Suitcase Leather Armor Update

UD Replicas released new photos for their latest design, Iron Man Mark V: Suit Case Armor. Sale orders open starting tomorrow, July 1st. Compared to the Dark Knight suit, this makes more sense on the road considering how bright it is. Those of you who don't drive motorcycles, it's important to be visible on the road so you don't get hit by over zealous soccer Mom's in SUV's. I love my Dark Knight suit, but you will never catch me wearing that thing at night fighting crime on the road. Do you guys like the pseudo RDJ modeling the suit?

In addition, the Batman Begins and Dark Knight utility belt is slated to go on sale as well. Thanks to David Pea at UD Replicas for the latest updates.

AT-AT: Man's best friend!

This video put together by Patrick Boivin has been taking Youtube by stormtrooper! I'm going to go ahead and call it right now... Patrick... it won't be long until Lucas calls you to either sue you or give you a job! Fantastic work!

Superman/Batman: Apocalypse

September 28, 2010 is the expected release date for WB Entertainment's newest DC animated movie, Superman/Batman: Apocalypse. Below is the cover art thanks to Supermanhomepage.com. Much like Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, Superman/Batman: Apocalypse will be based of the comic counterpart put together by Jeph Loeb and the late Michael Turner. I'm really impressed with the cover art, and I'm hoping the film will faithfully follow the original story arc as the image below suggests. More importantly, I'd like to see Kevin Conroy and Tim Daly reprise their roles as Batman and Superman respectively.

Batman: City of Scars

If you have half-an-hour to spare, this fanfilm called Batman: City of Scars is definitely worth checking out. This film was put together by Aaron Schoenke for $27k with of shooting time of 21 days. This is one of the best fan-made movie shorts I've seen yet!

Blue Beetle Movie - Test Shots

Leave it to DC Entertainment's Geoff Johns to take c-listed superheroes and writing them in a-list fashion. Newly appointed Chief Creative Officer, Geoff Johns, names Blue Beetle as one of his favorite characters he'd like to see on the big screen. In addition, he put together these live action mock-ups to bring his vision to life. Looks pretty solid to me! You can read the full article here.

Batman Arkham Asylum Figures Series 2

A second wave of Batman Arkham Asylum figures have officially been announced! As awesome as they look, and with the popularity and demand for this figure series, why the hell are they still going with the two tone Batman cape color?

Batman in Memento

I wonder if Christopher Nolan had any idea that he was going to be filming Batman Begins while he was shooting Memento? Mind you, there's a six year difference between Memento and Batman Begins' release. If he didn't know, it must've been destiny because Batman had a two second appearance in Memento. I was watching this movie last night half asleep when this scene hit me like a brick wall!

X-Futurama

Thought this was a pretty cool picture of the Futurama show getting the X-Men treatment. I was never a big fan of the show, falling off the first season halfway through, but I'll catch random episodes when they're on and I have no strength to reach for my remote control.

Holy no comment Batman!

Not quite sure how to react to this beyond a tongue-and-cheek wink. This week, Chris Gore, from Attack of the Show, reviewed an adult parody that looks all too familiar. Yes, Batman and Robin, with an adult twist. The makers of the film, Vivid, went all out to recreate the iconic 1960's Batman television show with near screen accuracy. Chris Gore mentioned you can also view the film with all the adult parts cut out, turning it into a big budget fan film. My question is, how the hell are they getting away without being sued by Fox or Warner Brothers, for reproducing an obvious rip off?

To see Chris Gore's review, forward to 4:18 here.

Christopher Nolan discusses Batman and Superman

Superherohype.com posted this article regarding Nolan's thoughts about Batman and Superman... separately.

Empire magazine talked to Christopher Nolan, whose new film "Inception" opens July 16, and got some great quotes from the helmer on the next Batman movie, coming July 20, 2012, and next Superman movie, targeted for a holiday 2012 release.

It was recently revealed that he would take on a mentor (or "godfather") role for the Superman movie, but he's not that comfortable with that title. "It's much more specific than that," he explained, "What it is, while David Goyer and myself were putting together the story for another Batman film a few years ago - you know, thrashing out where we might move on from 'The Dark Knight' - we got stuck. We were just sitting there idly chatting and he said, ' By the way, I think I know how you approach Superman,' and he told me his take on it. I thought it was really tremendous. It was the first time I had been able to conceive of how you would address Superman in a modern context. I thought it was a very exciting idea."

Nolan said he took that idea and pitched it to Warner Bros., and the studio got excited, too. "But it's not something for me to direct," he added. "It's something we were just trying to put together a vision for, and then find the right person to take it forward."

What's important to Nolan is finding the core of what makes the character so indelible; he favors the back-to-basics approach. "What you have to remember with both Batman and Superman," he told the magazine, "is that what makes those the best superhero characters there are, the most beloved after all this time, is the essence of who those characters were when they were created and when they were first developed. And you can't ever move too far from that."

He still hasn't officially signed on to direct new Batman movie. "No I haven't. There is a point where you're just being precious about it and people get annoyed, but the God's honest truth is I work on one movie at a time. I'm only capable of doing that, so my head will continue to be firmly in ['Inception'] for another few months."

There are some things, though, that Nolan can confirm. "My brother is working on the screenplay. We came up with a story that we are very excited about. We particularly like where we are taking the characters and what the ending is... There are things for me to be very excited about in addressing the characters again. But ultimately it always comes down to the script, and can we make a great film from this? That's something I will firmly be turning my attention to figuring out fairly soon." It will be, he said, "the finishing of a story rather than infinitely blowing up the balloon and expanding the story."

Empire asked whether the villain could be a returning (and recast) Joker. "No," said Nolan resisting to elaborate, "I just don't feel comfortable about it."

Nolan reiterated that you won't be seeing a Batman/Superman crossover in his movies. "Marvel are doing what they do and people will respond to that really well, or they won't," said Nolan. "It's not something I ever really applied a blanket rule to, but Marvel characters are very different to DC characters, and the key DC characters are very different to the minor DC characters. You've got to go back to that element of, 'What do I see when I close my eyes and think of Batman? What do I see when I close my eyes and think of Superman?' And for me a big part of that is their individuality. They are extraordinary beings in an ordinary world. And the reason I think the two are fascinating is because Superman is very specifically super powered and obviously otherworldly; Batman is very human and flawed. They're two very different characters, but there's an elemental feeling of power in the iconography of those characters. To me that's originally because they stood alone. I need to hang on to that in my imagining of them."

Star Wars and Adidas are kickin it old school.

Adidas has joined "Forces" with Star Wars, launching their World Cup theme ad campaign. Famous scene, famous faces and seamless visuals... but it's lacking some "sole." Maybe the run time is a bit too long for its own good. Every single pun was absolutely intended.

Captain America throws his mighty shield!

Here is concept art for the new Captain America film to be played by Chris Evans. It looks heavily influenced by Marvel Comics storyline The Ultimates, where Captain America's suit looks more functional and war-ready inspired. Considering Sam L Jackson was used to play Nick Fury (also influenced by The Ultimates), it's a no brainer they are considering this Captain America design.

More Thor

Concept art for Marvel's latest movie project, Thor, has just surfaced on the internets. Granted this is concept art, but couldn't they have put a more dynamic pose together? This isn't Swingers! Here's more Chris Hemsworth as the mighty Thor!

Kind of resembles...

Xerxes - Frank Miller back again with a 300 sequel... or prequel?

Here you have it, Frank Miller back on the horse (pun absolutely intended) with 300's sequel (or prequel?). I'm still not sure where in the Battle of Thermopylae this next story will take place, but guessing by the scar on Xerxes face, I'm guessing it will be take place after the events of 300. Surfing the internets, it seems like talking badly about Frank Miller is the "cool thing" to do these days. Is it because Frank Miller's adaptation of The Spirit left a bad taste in everyone's mouth? Maybe. Even I didn't care for his vision of The Spirit that much. However, I'll continue to ignore the naysayers and see support what Frank's got up his sleeve.

Batman The Brave and the Bold - The Video Game

"Batman: The Brave and the Bold" is WB's latest animated incarnation airing on Cartoon Network that combines a fun campy Batman that your kids can watch, intertwined with adventures accurately portraying past and current comic continuity. At first glance, the cartoon looks like a cuddly cartoon with cute animation. Taking a closer look, you'll find an abundant amount of detail that the writers manage to make fun for all ages. It only seemed liked a matter of time that they turned this into a video game.

"Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, on behalf of DC Comics, announces Batman: The Brave and the Bold - the Videogame, an action-adventure videogame based on the popular animated series, available this Autumn for Wii™ and Nintendo DS™. In the game, fans play alongside Batman and many of his allies in the DC Universe to take on dozens of popular villains."

If the video game developers manage to make the game as fun as the show, and cleverly make the game challenging like the Lego games... it looks like I'll be buying a Nintendo Wii or DS!
