With all the hoopla of the Dark Knight only getting one nomination for best supporting actor [Heath Ledger as the Joker], it makes you wonder why such a popular movie that broke so many records isn't being awarded for anything else. By no means do I feel popularity is the sole reason to be rewarded, but making a movie that pleases fanboys and a general audience with a story that has been bogged down by decades of continuity is a pretty amazing accomplishment! Unfortunately, The Dark Knight has to carry the burden of being pigeon-hold as a "comic book movie" and for that same reason it repels Golden Globes and Oscars. I can't believe Tom Cruise from Tropic Thunder is in the same nomination ballot as Heath Ledger as the Joker!
